Tommy's Bullsbrook/ Dakar Run
"Tommy's Bullsbrook/ Dakar Run" Junior was busting to ride his new ole man bike, and Tommy stepped up and called a ride. 7:30 at Bullsbrook. So 6 of us signed up Tommy, Jacko, Ross, Bunga, Junior and Hooters. I met Junior at 7am and him and I cruised over to meet the crew at Bully. After the usual meet and greet we cruised off, Tommy leading and the rest of us sharing sweeping just waiting for 4 bikes at every corner. The first 5km was a doodle along the black top then we headed off towards Julima on dirt roads, easy peasy, then Tommy's gps jumped into Ezberg mode and we dragged the big bikes through familiar trails- or rather familiar, when there's a skinny 500 underneath me! I was having a ball tho as I still had full knobbies on. Great run dusty tight single trail and more open dusty roads to fill in the gaps. Did I mention the dust. A break to fix Kate, a tail tidy looking very "untidy" couple of sticks, kicks and a rock and we were good to go. Jacko had a side panel go south, and we had a few stops for Bunga to wipe tears away! A bit of a black top run into Toodyay, beers and lunch, too easy. More fuel and we headed south ish, a fair bit of dirt road, bit more dust and more single track. Bunga lost a bash plate but I reckon its leaning against his shed at home! Tommy scored a rear flat, which ment he cut out a bit of single track due to time constraints and it was a pretty open run to the Rock Inn, arriving at 4:30, quick beer and we all headed off, Junior and I getting home about 5:30, big day. Cheers tommy awesome job leading, I hope the dust wasn't too bad up front...!! Special mention for Jacko punting a 30yr old xt500 around, and to Bunga digging deep hehe!
