3 Crustys and one Newbie (Andrew) volunteered for the Pilgrimage. Tommy and Andrew both purist Adventure Diehards chose to ride to the meeting point while Mike and I decided to take the soft option and sip our lattes while we drove our cars to Paddys for the start of the ride. I had a shaky start to the day while driving on Welshpool road when I drove straight thru a line of 10 ducks crossing the road, a quick look in the mirror and I managed to convince myself that there were no casualties.
So all booted up we took off north of the highway on familiar tracks and headed towards Metros, came a cross a new single track that we had heard about and will map in future. Thru some whoopy shit near metros, then onto some nice tracks towards Wandering. Finally after about 170klms we found it, the Wandering Mission established in 1944, for some it was a spiritual moment but I think Tommy summed it up best when he said “Its F$cking 35 degrees lets go”
Most of us were buggered by this stage so we headed back and took the easy options on the way home, we arrived at the still closed Paddys Bush Bar around 2:00 to ice cold beers sitting in the cars. Great day out and good to have Andrew onboard with the Crusties.
