WHAT A SHOW OFF!!!!

ANOTHER SHOW OFF!!!

HE WOULD NEVER SHOW OFF!!!

HE LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER SHOW OFF!!!
Some ideas were thrown around for an annual Crusty Quinn's Classic to take place. After a few suggestions, Deets offer was voted a winner. Deets put together a big loop starting at the OVT, down through the old CQ play ground, up past Yanchep, then through to Two Rocks and return. He arranged everything including pre-riding the course and dumping enough fuel at a secret location to refill 20 bikes. The boys decided he must pick up ROTD for his efforts. Well done Deets - You did a top job.

THE RIDERS MEETING. REMEMBER MOTORCYCLE RIDING CN BE DANGEROUS.

Not too far into the ride, Clive, a new CQer stalled his big TTR and had problems restarting it. Roley who was riding sweep stayed with him for 20 minutes and then decided the bike was not going to go and he would have to push it back to the OVT. Somehow he managed to fire it up and miraculously headed into the scrub and found us later in the ride. Roley had already taken off and then found Dingo stopped. Dingo had stalled Pete's old DR and the gear lever was also turning on the spline. He got a lift back to the OVT and was rescued by Jed and Phil in the 4WD. Bad luck Dingo - That's a HOG award.

SOME OF THE BOYS TURNED UP IN THEIR FLANNETTE SHIRTS JUST LIKE THE OLD DAYS. THIS STUFF WAS STANDARD RIDING ATTIRE FOR GUYS LIKE JAW, ROB AND BRAD ONLY A FEW SHORT YEARS AGO.

The first leg of the ride ended in the group being split into three lots. The less experienced CQer's failed to mark a corner when asked, until the sweep came along. Riding off and leaving a corner meant the stragglers had no idea which way to go at a Y junction and inevitably took the wrong direction. Fortunately and only by luck, all riders regrouped at the Alkimos. Another briefing on how the corner man system works and the remainder of the ride was spot on. Rob even commented on how easy it was to control such a large group after everyone stuck to the system.

THE FUEL STOP AND A MUCH NEEDED REST FOR SOME OF THE BOYS FINDING THE SAND AND HOT DAY A CHALLENGE.

Deets lead us through would have been excellent a few weeks ago while there was still some rain around but unfortunately due to the lack of rain and an increase in the temperature, the tracks were dusty and the sand was 10 foot deep. Black dust bellowed off the rear wheels of the bikes and made the ride pretty uncomfortable at times. A stop at the old Alkimos made for a bit of fun with some jump practice on the dunes by the boys that were game. Grant was getting a bit of air, as well as Tiger and a few others. Some of the less experienced riders were finding the going a bit tough and by the time we reached the fuel dump, had decided that turning back would not be a bad idea. A few others decided to join them and the group split in half. Half headed on, half took the easy way home looking forward to a cold beer back at the OVT.

Deets young fellow JR came along on his little 65cc smoker and made us old fellows look pretty weak. He rode at the same pace throughout the ride as the big boys and even rode up front on a few occasions. Watching this young rider mount his bike is a laugh. He starts the bike up. Stands next to it, gives it a handful and drops the clutch, runs next to it and throws himself over the bike and off he goes. He rode the boggy dusty tracks like a pro and for this I also gave him a ROTD. That makes two for the household. Well done JR.

Lets make that three awards. Swat2 was seen coming down in the dirt but the boys decided that Deets big over the bars pushing his face hard into the dirt deserved the SOTD award. I think your just showing off now Deets. I was sitting marking a corner at one point when Swat2 came around on dropped it right in front of me. Not to be out done, Tiger rode wide around him and also laid the bike down. I wasn't quick enough but it would have made a great Kodak moment with the two of them lying on the ground.

The girls who rode back early, including myself, took a few shortcuts and even cheated riding on some tar. This gave a few of the wheelie whores an opportunity to show there stuff. Cad, Swat2 and Kev's mate were putting on a good display. Not far from the OVT the guys had just bought the front wheels down when the boys in blue drove in the other direction. A flash of headlights and a glimmer of brake lights however they decided not to turn around and come for a chat.

EVEN ACID GLOVES EDDIE TURNED UP AFTER THE RIDE TO HAVE A BEER WITH HIS MATES.

Clive's mighty TTR and Craig's WR had problems all day with starting. Big Kev came to the rescue and many occasions and if like magic, a few kicks and made them roar into life. Some guys just have the knack. A few other riders were also mentioned today for their pace, ability or improvement. Orry was seen riding hard and showing plenty of talent, Tiger had picked up his riding a few notches, especially in the sand and Bleeder pushed the big KTM hard through the boggy stuff. Kev can simply just ride well, Grant likes to mix it up with the boys and Rob - Well Rob just likes playing in the sand. The thicker it is the bigger the smile. All the guys had their moments and said what a great ride it was. The CQ classic will definitely have to be an annual event however it will need to be pushed back at least a month in the year before the tracks dry out and the sun starts to shine.

BACK AT THE OVT FOR A COLD BEER AND A BURGER.

The boys finished of the day back at the OVT with a few cold beers and a burger. Even Acid Gloves Eddie turned up to have a beer with his mates. He realised that with 21 riders out there today he just wasn't needed. Another big thanks to Deets for all his efforts and let's just say the ride will be included on next years calendar.

Piece from Rob (Team CQ Epic)

Once we all refueled, 10 of us headed off to 2 Rocks while the rest of the guys turned around and went back to the pub - Their day done.

Rob rode sweep & Deets led the pack. By the time we found the rear access road to the shacks at North 2 Rocks, most of us had ran out of water. The day was turning into a minor scorcher. The call was made to hit 2 Rocks suburbia and drop by to Deets Mums place. Lucky she wasnt home, as 10 of us walked thru the garden on route to the tap. A few mouthfulls of water, and a refill of the camelbacks we were into it again.

We did the trip to the shacks the traditional way (those that remember the old 2 rocks runs) and had a bit of a break there. Wow, lovely scenery but who invited the flys!!

From the shacks we went inland, and headed back along to the fuel stop for a small break. A bit of a rest, then headed back to the pub. We got back for 15:30. 1 hour after the food stopped being served - Bugger. A few beers washed down the dust.

This was a top event, and wouldn't need much tweaking to be a great annual ride. I'd say the ride could be mid september and get started a touch earlier. Maybe hit the trails at 7:30.

Fully Sick mate :)
