The Chrissy break was over and it was time to get back into the swing of things. Perth's temperatures had increased however the heat had dropped off for the weekend allowing for a nice cool ride up to Cervantes and back. We were to get away from the Lano car park at 8.00 am sharp but Pete still had his watch set to Bali time so the old bugger slept in and the Baboons arrived a half hour late. The other seven riders waited up and the group left together shortly after 8.30.

With a lack of riders volunteering to ride lead, Col offered to clear the path of 4 x 4's and a huge amount of wild life. The ride although not too fast paced flowed smoothly enough until the Flo man decided he would take over lead not too far out of Wedge. I think the Flo man lost his mojo and soon we were turning down tracks that weren't quite heading in the right direction and he needed a hand to head the right way.

Pretz bought along a mate from the old country on holidays riding Pommy Pete's smoker to give him a glimpse of the Western Australian country side. Fordy picked up ROTD for taking quickly to the sand and showing even a trials rider can hack a 180 km return trip with ease. He did say however he would prefer to be on board his 450 four stroke that he rides at home.

Pretz picked up the prestiges SOTD award for a lovely off, over the bars, legs high in the air and landing flat on his back. Wish I had a helmet cam on for it because I was right behind him.

Cliffy enjoyed the beach runs as usual. Every time I spotted him he had that front wheel in the air. Gazza was quiet most of the ride but I suppose a man of his age has to take it easy. I was surprised they let these two out of the retirement home for the day to mix it up with the younger fellows.

Speaking of old boys - Pete and Roley shared the task of sweep rider. Try to take that job off them and it could end in violence. John525 reckoned he was a little sore as he had not been out for a ride in a while. Tiger was all smiles and he normally is but whats with all the wee breaks?? The boys say he should get that checked out!! LOL. Avoiding a high speed off, Col slammed his leg down hard to keep the bike upright and bent it back in the direction it is not supposed to go in resulting in a fair bit of damage. The doc says it might be a while before it heals.

The three baboons tried out their new steering dampeners for the first time and all commented on how great they were. I just felt mine kept the bike going in the right direction, almost no deflection off rocks on the front wheel and stopped the bike from getting untidy on the whoops. Pete said that the guys who have been using them for a long time have simply been cheating!!!!

A top ride boys. Still looking forward to those cold rainy days but I think they are still a long way off.

A BREAK AT THE NURSES HUT. THAT FORDY SURE WEARS SOME PRETTY SLICK RIDING GEAR.

A BREAK ON THE BEACH WAITING FOR OUR SWEEP RIDER WHO JUST WASN'T SURE WHICH WAY WE WENT.

THE FLO MAN. HE HAD A PROBLEM WITH A VALVE ON THE FRONT TUBE AND LOST SOME AIR BUT SORTED IT OUT AND PUMPED IT UP AGAIN.
