Tumblegum Natural Terrain.

A small contingent of CQer's gathered early on the side of a hill just pass Armadale to take part in a Natural Terrain with about 400 other riders. This would have to be one of the biggest dirt bike gatherings WA has ever seen. The Grunta had been involved in the previous days set up and had set aside an area trackside next to the start line. The riders all got down there early and a few hours later a few more CQer's turned up to show their support. Col Mc, Craig, KX Steve, Steve 525 were all there. Roley came down early with me and a few of the boys had their partners along. The spectator numbers appeared to be down a heap but I suppose at $25.00 a head, it was no wonder. Everyone got to go out a do a three lap practice section. The track was fast, smooth and relatively dust free but all that was going to change. I really enjoyed the sight laps and came in with a big smile. By the time I got out there for my first race it was starting to get chopped up, the dust was thick and some large holes were forming. All the boys had a varying degree of success however everyone had a good time so that is what counts. I blew my second race big time. After a top start I ran of the track only a third the way around the first lap and stalled the bike in a hole with Gazza following me in. By the time I got it out and restarted I was running 39th. I think it was my third race when I came over the jump at the finish to find Gazza laying in a heap at the bottom. He picked up SOTD for that crash. I will have to wait for the others to post their feelings on the days ride and then I will paste them into the report. All in all it was a pretty good day out for my 100th official Crusty Quinns ride. |
