Report by Col.
We thought the wet was here but there was still plenty of dust out on the trails today. A small group assembled including Craig who has not been out much lately and Steve525 who has not had a ride in 11 months since breaking his ankle. I lead the group with Brett taking on the task of sweep.

We took off around the more familiar trails where the whoops seem to be growing by the week. After about the 15 k mark we stopped for a regroup where Pounce was heard saying he was glad that section was done. I don't know what happened but we ended up riding back along the same whooped out trail for most of its length.

After heading back across Metro we hit the famous 5 k's of the bigger sand whoops that everyone loves so much. With the aid of a GPS you would think I could get it right but after lots of back tracking, riding the same trails and missing most of the better fast flowing ones we returned to the cars after about 65 k's. A few of boys decided to call it a day and packed up and hit the road. The rest of us had a refuel and took off for a second loop.

I suppose we had knocked up about 15 - 20 k's of more crap trails before Andrew offered to take the lead. I reckon we should call this bloke Compass. He has only been to Metro twice before and one of those times was over a year ago. With a sixth sense of direction he lead us around all the favorite trails, up the hill climb and along some nice stuff we had never ridden on. I would have given him the ROTD award if he hadn't have picked up the SOTD award after lurching himself into a grass tree while ascending the hill climb from the reverse direction. Well done and thanks Andrew.

Craig dragged out Steve 525 for a ride who has had the boots hung up for nearly a year. Steve who is looking trim taunt and terrific rode steady and well paced all day and won the ROTD award for smooth and effortless ride. Good to see you back in the saddle mate. Roger looked liked absolutely stuffed after returning for the second loop whereas Michael and Mick were probably ready to get out for a third loop.

Choko tried hard to pick up the SOTD award on a couple of occasions but just didn't crash hard enough. Roco took over as sweep on the second loop and made sure he was no more than 3 meters behind the last rider at all times. It was still a good day but as Andrew proved - a good lead rider makes all the difference.

ANDREW REPAIRING A FLAT

CHOKO - HE GETS INTO EVERYTHING.

CRAIG - IT MUST BE HIS AGE - HE NEEDS A LAY DOWN WHEN WE REGROUP.
