The message board was very quiet this week and by Thursday a ride had not been called. Andrea then threw his hand up to lead a Metro ride. Upon arrival Carlo wheeled a nice new WR450 out of the van with a big grin on his face and I think he might even have had a boner. We met up for a 9.00 am kickoff, ticked off the names of who had arrived and wondered where David was!!!!!! Oh well - he must of slept in, let's hit the trails.

Andrea took us for a tour of the southern trails where he has been taking Carlo recently to learn the art of staying upright. We started off on the narrow and rutted goat trails but were soon riding the fast flowing fire trails. Mackley was slowed down today with a much more cautious and less experienced group of riders but still managed to get on the gas a few times after taking the corner man position many times and moving through the pack quickly, back behind Andrea.
Carlo was having fun on the new steed although he was having problems with new boots, getting the right gear and stalling problems. Tommy rode consistently all day at his own pace and only once did I spot him lying on the ground after he misjudging a grass tree and performed a lovely pirouette over the top of it. He was up and back on the bike before the engine even stopped!!!

Linsday has had no experience with gravel and goat trails so it was no surprise that he came in contact with the ground on more than one occasion. In fact he was awarded the SOTD award. Not for any particular single off but for the sheer volume of shit - here we go again!!! Well done buddy.

Half way around the first loop we crossed the main trail and headed into whoop country. Pounce would have been in his element out there today. I estimate we travelled around 15 k's at one point where the whoops were only a metre apart and as deep as the wheels!!!! Andrea pulled the group up for a break on several occasions and I could tell by the look on Lindsay's face that he was stuffed. He said he was feeling the pain but I commend him for his efforts and the fact he came out and put in a second loop with us. (He really just didn't want to be called a girl in the ride report).

Carlo managed to get the new bike back to the cars in one piece. Roley did a superb job as usual as sweep and I just had a great trail ride, mostly riding steady but chasing Andrea and Mackley hard on a few occasions.

David apparently has a problem with time and directions. (A quote from one of the boys today). He arrived to late too get out with us after going to the wrong meet point but still managed a ride with a couple of other fellows out for a ride. As you can't award a half point for a ride we thought we would be generous enough to award the full point for at least making the effort to come along.

As there weather warms up, I can't see too many more Metro rides this year. The dust will be thick and the heat on those gnarly little goat trails unbearable. Thanks to all for a good ride today. Well done to Andrea for a great first lead ride.
