Mick450 called another excellent sand adventure starting at the Ocean View Tavern. In the car park there were many concerns about the sanity of eleven men riding sand on the hottest October day in fourteen years. Some had been on Micks rides and knew something of the challenge that lay ahead.

After the standard safety chat the group headed East on the black stuff toward the pines and turned to ride some fast flowing fire trails. Mick led us to a Quarry where Mick pointed at a vertical climb. I was madly shaking my head to suggest that there was no way I was going up that track. Mick made me feel better about my choice by hitting a rock near the top, spearing sideways and sliding downward in a dramatic fashion. Stack of the day for sure! I noticed some orange machines making a successful attempt at a second track and heard tails of a yellow machine ascending with style.

More quick fire trails mixed with some tight stuff led us North to the fuel stop where a well prepared leader had stashed some fuel for the more thirsty of the bikes.
How fast do you have to be going to squash a bug on your goggles? Thats how fast I was traveling. I was impressed with my speed until Mick explained that when his Son had traveled the same track the GPS indicated a speed of 120kph.
The corner man system was working well thanks to an excellent sweep job done by Jacko. A quick regroup at the Wilbinga picnic area before riding the main track to the ocean. Another quick rest on the beach before tackling the 4x4s on the way back to Two Rocks then the Lagoon for lunch and drinks and more drinks.
Husq Mike had a flat front and so a group escorted him back to the OV along the road. The remainder of the group burnt their last few kilojoules of energy attacking the hills along the coast. We can all be proud that we were more successful than the learner driver in the Jackaroo.
By the time we reached the Ocean View the front wheel had traveled 117kms and the survivors got together for a well earned beer.
Nice one Mick, another successful, well planned dessert crossing.
