Micks Australian Headlight Test Ride
Players Mick450,Wrex, GasGas Mark. Fueltanker Allen

Riding behind Mick is hard enough in cool dustless conditions with high visibility. Following in dusty dry darkness..no good can come of this.
Four riders assembled at the OV at 7.30pm which evoked Marks quote of the night. Thisll never catch on!
Micks idea of riding some of the easy trails with frequent stops for equipment checks sounded simple enough. We rode inland towards the pines and it soon became apparent that the GasGas lighting department did not get the product of the year when Marks bike was built. His headlight was pointing to the heavens and tail lights failed to work. MacGyver Mark made mod number one of the night using a rock to hold his headlight in position.
A short blast along the limestone tracks in the pines revealed that Micks money had been well spent and the Trail Tech light was setting spot fires and singeing wildlife while Rexs light needed Mod number two for the night. Rex has patent pended the zip tie treatment to the headlight (full details to be found on Youtube soon). It must have looked like three candles and a lighthouse cruising down the tracks in the blackness.

Imagine riding down a trail, flat chat behind your mate, when he disappears. This is what happens when someone comes off on a night ride. Rex cross rutted his Yamaha and created a huge dust cloud and then everything went dark. SOD it!

The group followed some great tracks and ended up at the traditional Crusty stomping grounds which looks very different in the dark..
Micks idea number two was followed with less enthusiasm. Lets go and do that hillclimb! Nice one Mick. Blindly.we followed eventually ending up on the sand dunes. Thus follows Rexs lights disappearing again due to a sand drift with no back.

An outstanding experience usually is made up of:
A couple of What the hell am I doing here?
At least one Im not doing that!
Maybe a Im never doing that again!
Micks night ride had all of the above and more. A great ride and an experience I would repeat some day. Thanks gang.
