Pounce announced a ride near The Lakes Roadhouse. 7.30 sharp. It all sounds great but when you add a two hour drive and sub zero temperatures, this had better be a good ride. Fortunately it lived up to the hype.
I arrived to find H resting in the comfort of his car. Thirteen players turned up, some in shorts, some in slippers.
A short trip to the start point and Pounces rider meeting.
A few sand tracks (sounds good so far) a few muddy patches (I can handle that) and some rocks (bugger!) Pounce announced that we would do a loop of about 70kms back to the cars and that he would change gloves as we would get wet.(Oh goody!)
The loop was designed around Google Earth maps from four years ago and as expected had some re-growth. Doing a public service to keep tracks open for service vehicles. One section was selected as a photo opportunity and the lads showed that Crustys can jump (a bit)
Pounce requests that this track is molded into excellent single track before his next ride.
The creek section was my favourite section of the year. Ross had a problem choosing one line and ended up within centimeters of SOTD. I chose to help him rather than take a photo firstbad choiceso I drew a picture.

Lindsay had some fun in the mud and picked up SOTD.
Rob, Mick and Michael played silly buggers behind the leader. The loop was excellent with a bit for everyone except Michael who was searching the horizon for hill climbs. And Rob who seemed to be making tracks of his own all day.
At the end of the loop three riders called it a day and the rest took off again with H (the worlds fastest sweep) at the back.. A make it up as you go ride saw riders playing with some rocks., snakes and swamps.
Too soon riders started to look longingly at my fuel supply and we turned for home. ROTD goes to the bloke with the big tank. What a great rideNice work Al

A great ride was had by all with something for everyone.
The blokes I saw at the fast food outlet on the way homeyour secret is safe with me.
