Report by Jacko.

Mick put in an early call for this ride warning of over 200ks and two fuel stops so we knew we were in for a long day. i think this should be called Micks mega ride.
We headed off from the OVT at 8.30 and took a shorter route than usual across the sand plains. For new guy Felix it was his first ride in sand. He did pretty good but you could tell he was suffering. About 50ks later we were at the roadhouse for smoko and refuel, then into the hills for the next hundred klms. Mick did a good job of stringing all the best tracks together into a giant loop. The ground was still a bit damp and not too much dust, almost perfect. I didn't see Felixs SOTD (He fell twice in the sand & flipped the Husaberg twice, breaking his left hand rear brake on the second flip. Finished the last 80 odd klms without back brakes) but I did see Mick picking himself up after falling on a tree. We did a few challenging hill climbs in a row and stopped at the top to regroup when we were missing four riders. A plan was hatched to circle around to find them when we heard them coming. It turns out they were fixing a flat tyre, Deans I think. KLX Pete and Mackley were riding hard all day doing more than their fair share of cornerman. After that it was back to refuel at the roadhouse where Pounce and Felix decided to wimp out of the last 50ks of sand and go back by road. They were still getting changed when we got there. A few coldies followed and a few early nights I'm sure. Thanks to all for a fantastic days riding. Where to next Saturday?
