15 of us meet at the woky pub, great turn out, shaping up for a great day. we convoyed accross the rail line and up the hill to wayno's park up spot. wayno leading and mick530 sweeping. great single track just starting to dry out but with damp muddy sections a couple of roostings and a bit puddle fun (well it was fun for me!!) it was an eventful ride for crashes with most chuckin' the wheels in the air at least once (some more than once but more on that later) after a couple of hours we discover wr-ross has a front puncture, no probs 1/2 hr later we're all rested and on our way again....
....this next section of wayno's track was awesome single track with a couple of dirt roads to join it all up and several long steep hills with drainage ditches to jump on the way up- great fun with lots of 'oh fuck' moments, well for me anyway! we do the great loop to the lake round it and back again- just keep ya head down an watch the vines! oh and the holes, couple of those to keep everyone awake.wr-ross has 2nd front flat. big big rock pinch, prob not enough air when we fixed the first flat. he wanted to bail to the car and the tissues but we had a crusty vote and wouldn't let him! 1/2 hr an we're rested an rolling...again! crusty spirit is great ross had no spare tubes gets 2 flats an he's still riding, awesome eh! heavy duty tubes 14psi and stash the original front, nice and small, in ya fanny pack- too easy!i have been doing this for years with no drama- untill i tried going lower than 14psi!chuck your own method on the board but this is my 2cents. no disrepect to ross his is long sorry story.any way 70km down and we are starting to head back to the cars to round out a 100km day...
...yup nice easy 30km back to the cars. 1st ride for me in nearly 3 mths so i was looking for the cars and the tissues. don't think i was the lone ranger as the pace had dropped a bit. well everyone except stuntman jase! more great tracks and enough dust to let us know summer is on the way. and along comes stack of the day! we were just pulling up to the cars, i'm secretly counting my blessings as its been a mixed season for myself, even today i forgot my body armour- doh! and i was keen to get the monkey off my back! and tony parks up and this little gem "fuck you should've seen that!" apparantly jason threw his pride and joy through the air almost within sight of the cars, and ended up with a very average wrist. bit of ice she'll be right, update pending. cheers everyone especially wayno for calling the ride, and michael for sweeping. the dust is here and i can hear the boat calling my name so will be catching you all when the rains come next year
ciao hooters
