"Hills and Thrills with Rob"

12 riders rocked up on a perfect day. 8 regulars , 2 newbies (Tobz450 & DRZWayne) and 2 tagalongs for the day.
The area had over 30mm of rain in the last few days and conditions were up there with the best I've seen. WRRob had a loop in mind and he led off with Rothy sweep. Straight into some tight hilly single track which was awesome no dust and damp soil and finally some front end grip. A bit of downhill, slippery and wet, and then back up. One of the tagalongs on a WR hurt his leg at the bottom of the hill so it was turn round and back down the hill, slippery and wet. His leg wasn't too bad but he opted not to go on so we ran him back to the cars which wern't far away. A few lads topped up with fuel then we were back into it. A real tricky little down hill section which Tommy insisted on doing the hardest way known to man and a few sheep followed him. I would of loved to have stopped to watch but I was flying down the hill at an unprecedented rate ...shit I'm in neutral hold on...made it all good. Eventually every body gets down and we head off to some hills then some mud then some muddy hills. Harve shows Rob where a single track leads up a hill with a gully at the bottom. This lasts about 5 mins then we pop out onto a track. Have a break to regroup but were missing 2. Rob heads back and finds Rothy having a lie down in the gully cuddled up to his 530. Off we go again down through "Hooters Rapids" and up into the higher ground. Down next into the pinneys then up them then back down them sometimes in control sometimes not in control. Regroup again then over the railway to some exciting new hilly stuff (not done on previous crusty runs) that Rob and I mapped out last year in a midweek sorte. This was awesome ground. Back over the railway heading to more familiar tracks ...but first we had to cross this poxy little gully...that got poxier every time another bike chopped the buggary out of it. I was near the end of the cue and it was not looking good, Pounce was just ahead of me and when he got stuck with those long legs I new me and Rothy were doomed. It took 3 of us just to get my front wheel out of the mud vacuum, anyway we all made it in the end with lots of help. Robs loop was finished so Harve took over as lead whilst I swept. More of the same great terrain a few single tracks that I havn't been down in a while and we pop out on the road. A bit of bitumen then onto the "roofrack track" a regroup then were off...5 corners later were stopped...Tobz450 over cooks the Berg round a greasy bend and does a bit of mudhugging...I give him a bit of friendly advice then WRRob explains the merits of dragging the rear brake into corners then were off...3 corners later were stopped...WRRob goes down in the mud as well...Tobz ponders aforementioned merits...off again all is good...then WRrob is not at all happy with the mud on his riding gear so he decides to have a bath...full body submerge...in a filthy great puddle. Anyway we finish off with some final hilly single track and back to the cars. Despite quite a few offs (not me for a change) nobodies hurt. A few brews trackside then off to the Woky pub for a few well deserved beers.
Robs loop was awesome conditions were brilliant and Harves loop finished off probably the best ride this year.
Cheers WaynoVB
