Mick called an adventure ride to test the new bikes so I though about a ride to Beverly as I have never been there. I plotted out some tracks through an area I have been on before and a lot that I have not this was made harder as we didn’t know how the bikes would handle in the dirt so I tried to keep to easier ones and ease into it. We met up and it was good to see Jacko had brought his XT500 out for a spin a quick look at it and we noted his knobble tyres this made the rest of ours look like slicks. The ride to Beverly went as planned but we didn’t get lost and the bikes were going fine when we arrived we voted and got hot dogs and a drink for the effort refueled as usual but Jacko had not put his stand down properly and dropped his bike very embarrassing for him. On the way back to Sawyers Valley we decided it was time for a bit more challenging tracks as we were full of confidence that the bikes could handle it well this was all good until we got into SAND the Teneres did not like that Ross lost his front end and picked up stack of the day but no damage to his new toy only his pride this is the first time I have heard Mick say “no more sand” meanwhile Jacko was loving it with his lightweight XT and knobble tyres ha ha. We worked our way back to Sawyers Valley for a pint and a debrief the first thing we all agreed on was we have to get better tyres but which ones that is the hard part.
Tommy

410ks today from home back to home for me.
Going to buy new tyres with knobs next week, them road tyres don't work too good in the sand & loose gravel(Ross gets SOTD).
But it was a good ride Started in Martin went to Beverly to vote via MT Dale. Took the long way to Sawers Valley for a pint amd came home via Mt Helena and Gidgeeganup.
Mick450

thanks for a great ride todayguys,we went all over the place and found some realy nice smooth trails whitch is a good thing as i took the old xt500 out for a blast.first time ever it has been the lightest, most nimble bike in the fleet.hope to do it again soon.
Jacko
