Tommy called a late ride on the Adventure bikes to York.
It was arranged to meet at Mills rd in Martin at 8:00, 6 players turned up Fueltanker Allen on his new DR650, Jacko on his trusty old XT500, , Pounce on his DRZ400 with a fuel tank bigger than the one in his car, Tommy on his now not so new Dr650 but sporting a new FMF pipe & big fuel tank, mick450 & WR Ross on there now not so new Tennere’s.

A plan was hatched to ride to York but mick 450 who was injured in an off a month ago decided to give it ago so a little easier rout to York was worked out to cut out the snotty bits. These Adventure bikes make the smooth dirt roads & tracks seem like highways but as soon as it starts to get tight they are a handful.

We left the meet point up the bitumen out to dale Dale rd and around the back of MT Dale, a couple of us started playing around with tyre pressures trying to get more grip as this is where the riding on Adventure bikes gets harder, trying to hang on to these bikes on loos gravel, up & down rutted hills keeps you on your toes.

Once we are the other side of Yarra rd the going gets easier except for an over grown sandy track as we are around farmland so we take the nice easy tracks & bitumen roads into York where we had a burger & a beer at the Saints Diner. This was a great place to have lunch as the place is based on motor bikes with pictures all over the walls & old bikes hanging up.

From York we were going to head back to the Lakes but we decided to try and get to Toodyay , the train goes through Toodyay so if we follow the train track we should get there. We sort of followed the train track and the river and ended up going through spencers brook into Clackline where we headed north along some tracks but there are too many property’s through there. At 2:45 we decided it was getting too late to try to get to Toodyay and head for home.

A good day was had by all depending on where you live would have been between 330 -430k ride.
