Pounce called a ride in the hills so you know its going to be a good day out 10 riders turn up one of them a new guy wr250Dave. Riders meeting the plan is for about 120ks so bring fuel corner man system is covered Pounce is leading and I (Tommy) will sweep, stay between us and all will be good. The ride is going good and every one is riding fast with no hold up at the corners its going to be a good day out. After a while Pounce wants to find a track so we look around for it for a bit but cant find it so he gives up and sends Martyn off up over a hill and we all follow up one side and down the other when we get over we realize its one of the hills we go to often but only to blast up as far as you can and the come back down the same way again. Some minor maintenance is needed on a couple of bikes after this, one needs some fluid for the clutch and one needs its radiator fixed up.
Off again to another hilly area that takes us down to more single track that goes on for miles its really good riding here and everyone is having a great time so Pounce decides to head off and park up so he can get some photos. This is when Carl has his off over a log he landed on his head and cracked 3 vertebrae needless to say he was a bit sore and slow getting back up on to his bike. His helmet was a right off but it had done its job and paid for its self. RoosterMick volunteered to ride back to the cars with Carl and help load his bike so well done Mick.
After this we carry on and link up more tracks all is going well until I see wr250Dave at the side of the track as I pull up I can see his headlight shroud all smashed up so we get out the cable ties and its all fixed up in no time and we carry on. The next drama we have is Troy standing beside his bike he can hear rattling coming from the back wheel and thinks his chain is loose but when we have a look we find that his sprocket bolts have come loose and some are missing so we tighten the two that are left and put on a couple of bolts that we find in our tool bags. We tell him to take it easy as this is only a temporary fix and may come loose again. Well within 10 minutes its all turned to brown smelly stuff the bolts have come out and wore a hole in the swing arm and the hub has broken. The only option now is to take off the chain and sprocket and tow Troy home so he pushes the bike to a graded track and Martyn gets out his tow rope we have a run through on how this is going to work and head of for the cars. Surprisingly they have it sorted out on the first attempt and we are back at the cars in no time packed up and in the tavern having a chat about the days ride.
