mick450 Col mac: I'll be interested in a pair of Moose Tubes

Hooters: You should win the wheelie comp if there is a creek to cross

TigeR Mon, Aug 18 2008 17:50Diehard (45 rides)
TigeR Sounds good Hooters - I'll suggest that wheelie comp too :)

Colin McCaughey Col, i suppose as its being done for the right reason (to help improve stuff), we can name names and he can comment.

I think it looks like Bhudda was the only culprit. I think he was wearing jeans and road based boots. Considering he took a decent stack on Saturday, he should maybe consider fixing his attire to more offroad safety based gear.

Colin McCaughey Mon, Aug 18 2008 12:18LEGEND (77 rides)
Colin McCaughey Guys, after Saturdays puncture situation, i was speaking to Mick450 about Moose tubes. Michelin sell them in Aus, but Pirelli do not. i have always got on far better with the Pirelli and they are a good bit cheaper than the Mich ones.

I have contacted the guy i buy mine from in the UK and am going to get a list of what sizes he can offer. You can get different sizes to alter how hard the tyre feels, to sort of mimic having a higher or lower air pressure in a tube.

So i just wanted to see an early level of interest. I had been paying @$460 for a pair of Mich's fitted at Tyres for bikes. But i don't think they last as well as the Mich's (if you remember my wheel bearing dramas, that was all caused by a rubbish Mich moose). I would hope to be able to get a pair from the UK for GBP140. I have an idea of freight, but we will see how that goes.

Colin Another awsome report and photo's guys. M and M have certainly put on a couple of good rides. I just noticed a pair of jeans and what looks like joggers in a photo!!! You can hurt your feet/ankle enough wearing real protection without risking damage in that sort of gear??

It is up to all CQer's at a ride to allow/accept a new guy to ride with the group. There should be a minumun requirement (the T & E standards would do) to come on a ride. They would refuse a rider not in decent boots and so should we.

TigeR KTM Capel Trailbike Rally ...

Registrations are flowing in for the above ... but there's only been a small number of entries so far for the Novice loop. I know there's plenty of Crusties out there who have mates, wives, girlfriends who are getting into dirt biking. This is a perfect opportunity for them to do an organised event without the pressure of worrying about too technical a trail, or getting roosted by quicker riders. Encourage them to give it a go ...

H Mon, Aug 18 2008 11:14LEGEND (61 rides)
H Great ride on Saturday – Thanks to Mick & Michael for putting their hands up to lead another ride that had heaps of different terrains, enjoyed the sand, fire trails, pines etc but took a while to get used to the Pee Gravel......as all of us did – LOL.........Some also didn’t like the water as it took a while to get the DRZ going.............

Traveling along the last road section to the OVT, I thought to myself – What an awesome day’s riding we’ve just had and this is winter...........Brilliant!!

Cheers to all that went, had heaps of good laffs........

john450 A big thanks to Mick & Mick for doing such a great job in organising this ride with so many riders. With the great selection of terain, from sand ( I don't normally like sand but ha... I just loved this trip) to that shit pea- gravel. I loved the back section of the loop, could realy get into it. A special thanks to all the riders that let me go past, I didn't mean to spray you.

Choko. As for the miss communication with the copper, he didn't realise that he was dealing with the legend Choko!!! Luckly he backed off!!!!!!

You Crusty Guys are a great bunch to ride with, Can't wait for the next ride. Looks like it will be Capel.
See you there if not sooner.

mick450 TigeR
Have emailed you ride report can you post it please.

Thanks everyone for making it a great ride makes it all worthwhile with a great bunch of blokes all willing to lend a hand when its needed.

And seeing that you all liked the sand so much I have another different ride nearly planned.

Colin McCaughey Sun, Aug 17 2008 14:32LEGEND (76 rides)
Colin McCaughey Did anyone on yesterday's ride notice the sand? Nah, i must have been dreaming!!!

Big thanks to Mick and Micheal for taking that challenge on. Great job guys and you pair just went right up the CQ pecking order with calling and arranging that ride, for a big group and on trails that most had never seen before. Top job guys. It does show what can be done and surely there must be other CQ'ers who could put their hands up and show the group a new ride????

Oh and who was that comedy monkey on a KTM? Tooters, Looters, Booters - something like that anyway. Has one bike ever been crashed so many times on one ride, all by trying to be the biggest show off?? You idiot - LOL!

Choco, leave the poor cops alone. He could clearly tell from your riding style that you were the one to pick on.

And lastly there was Micks hill. The git stood back and left a bunch to have a crack at that steep, deep, boogy sandy hill, without even so much as "you might wanna get a run up from this side". No he let half the group take their chances and by my reckoning only 6 made it, with 2 of the bikes doing their impressions of puffing billy and letting off some steam. Thanks to those guys in front of me who managed to stack it in the opposite rut to me, otherwise i too could have joined your carnage!!

Best part of the ride for me was the fast sandy trail on the way back after Muchea. With a clear run and no dust that was great. As i said to the group after that section, now who wishes they'd bought the 450cc instead of the 250!!

Thanks again to M+M and to the group for their understanding of my bikes hatred of water.

TigeR Sun, Aug 17 2008 10:59Diehard (44 rides)
TigeR Now that was an Adventure Ride ... thanks to Mick & Michael for the Coast to Hills Ride.

Thanks to my factory mechanics ColMc & H for getting my Yama-haha going with the first delay of the day. A sign of things to come.

This ride had it all - where else do you get to ride sand in the morning (and fall off) and then gravel in the afternoon (and fall off again) - it was like four rides in one.

Great to ride different trails and wonder what's coming next - dust, valve-hopping boggy sand, stacks, dust, water-crossings (eek!), drownings, laffs, stacks, dust, ill-considered wheelies, laffs, dust, slidy slidy pea-gravel, a religious icon having a stack (glad to see you got home safe Buddha), dust, laffs, boggy sand, bitumen, cops, valve-hopping (and that was my heart) boggy sand ... awesome.

Daza - I would have posted a reply to your comment last night - but I was asleep :)

Pounce C'mon, someone give out a few details of todays shennanigans.

wrex Sat, Aug 16 2008 18:35Regular (5 rides)
wrex A big thankyou to Mick and Michael for managing a large group over such long, dusty and trying conditions.

It was fantastic to see everyone chip in when tubes needed changing and water needs extracting from engines. At no stage did anyone get pissed off for the delays.

Awesome ride today with a great bunch of blokes, another typical Crusties ride.

At the end of the day was it because he's black, officer.
:-) HA HA HA

Colin Adrian - Good vision mate- I remember riding the Power line out towards Bulls Brook once and the sand was up to the axles for about 20 k's. I remember Roley looking like he was about to die by the time we got to the end.
