Report:
A few players were getting itchy riding feet so the next monthly bash was
set. Some last minute preps from Jak (front forks rebuilt) and Tim (new
front tube) nealy caused JAW to head off without them; lets stick to
between 1&2pm huh people?
Do you think between five blokes you can muster a watch for timing
the time trials? Brad stops in at his little sis Sand's place down
the road and borrows a timepiece, not much use doing time trials
otherwise. Brad, Jak and Wolfie head out first; Brad showing
consistent form, Wolfie nudging that magic 2 minute barrier but it
proving to be elusive this event and Jak happy to record his first
timed lap.
Tim and JAW up next. JAW shows poor form but Tim is on fire. He's
put it down to his new "Crusty Quinns 2" look - new stickers
including some scantily clad ladies, a bit too raunchy for this page
readers ;)
|
Tim fair fangs it around the course, desperate to break the sub
two minute drought. And succeeds.

Jak 'sick air'
|
Off to the half pipe for some air. Just when you think the half pipe
has been worn out, you can't find a lip with any meat on it and all
the approaches are rutted you find a new superb attack angle. Ahh,
the half pipe. What a place.
Tim and JAW make good work of it, Brad and Wolfie spend a bit of
airtime just hangin' around and Jak is pleased not only that he got
both wheels off the ground at the same time, but that it was also
caught on camera ;)
Brad comes up with a good idea: JAW, Tim; do a jump at the same
time and I'll take a picture. Now there's thinking. In fact would
make an excellent bit of footage for Crusty Quinns 2. Must keep that
in mind the next time the video camera is out there.
|
A 'double'...
What is over there Wolfie?
|
Meantime Brad, JAW and Wolfie head up to the Alkimos and wait for the
two-stroke boys to refuel. He's a tip two smokers: Gimme a jerry can
of fuel and I'll hide it in the bush for you so next time we don't
have to hang around waiting for yous...
Interesting stuff seen at the Alkimos. Strong winds has created
some almost razor back dunes. One was proving to be an excellent
source of air-time for a guru on a TT600. JAW has a go and sure
enough there was some air available but the runup through deep loose
sand was almost not worth the effort.
|
A second dune caught a Hilux driver right on the peak. Looked
pretty cool so JAW rushes up for a photo. Heh. Suprisingly not only
does a second Hilux snatch the first one out, but the previously
bogged 'lux has a second attempt at the dune and gets air off it! A
wild bunch of teenage girls and guys.
But of course that's what you'd expect from an "unbreakable" Hilux
- a close family relative to the 4runners ;)
Wolfie calls it quits and heads home. Something about dropping his
missus off at a BBQ and having to nip back to pick her up. Wolfie,
you are going to get yourself in trouble man...
|
Plenty of activity at the Alkimos; a Hilux looking very
stuck.

Brad takes 5.

With the formalities over and Jak'n'Tim back on the scene the
foursome hit the trails to Yanchep. No special performances noted but
a good introduction nonetheless for Jak to one of the Crusty Quinns
Players favourite events.
Quite often and including this time there are horseriders on the
trail. The lads respect their equal standing on the track and give a
wide berth. A different cup of tea altogether these 1 horsepower
wheeless rides but hey, they are out in the bush havin' a nice time.
Can't knock that.
A bit of a stop, a drink and it's time to head home. All
trailrides must have a beggining and an end - and most importantly
plenty of hard riding in the middle :)
