Trail Report: February 16th 2002
Report by JAW The weather seems to know to ease off when a lot of players want to ride. Although there was no letting up in the wind department, the threatening thunderstorm, mild temperatures and general overcast conditions made for an invitation to get some petrol pumping. A huge turnout, biggest ever at a peak number of 13 players. Lucky thirteen too, the time trial lap times came crashing down as the one minute fifty barrier was broken and personal bests placed by keen lappers. Record number at a peak of 13 players.
Back at the Alkimos dune Wolfie and Brad head home, Wolfie has done a damage to his knee. We all hope you are okay Wolfie. Brad is nominated - in his absense and unable to defend himself - as Stack of the Day. It's a tough crowd. On the dune jump Richard is aceing the airtime on the newly recovered CR450F, and whoa, what an exhaust note. Dano is putting on a bit of a show and even Tim426 and JAW leave the ground. MartyMoose was looking more at home on the track than in the freestyle airtime but seemed to be putting some practise in. Other players pulled out some air passes but, alas, jumping (apart from in Richard and absent-Mik's hands), is not a Crusty Quinns fave. Rob had the video camera out and all... Thunderstorm threatened all day but nothing came of it.
Ah but we now cut the the chase, literally. A late-in-the-day timetrial is on and some *huge* laps are performed. The track is fast, real fast, the chronic wind must have flattened out the woops. Almost all players who put in a lap go sub two minute club; only 4x4s prevent others from join the ranks on the day. Featuring the highlights:
Huge meet, huge times, what a day. |
