Report by Peter

A very quiet day for CQers today. A quick trip for a two hour session in CQ country turned into "one of those days" and to top it off the camera stopped working, can't even share the experience with the boys.

Immediately after we headed off, Roley's bikestopped. Now for those experts out there who ask technical questions, he was sitting on the bike revving high through two foot of thick sand - lo and behold no drive.

This condition would have not fooled the likes of Marty or Col, but Roley and I know as much about bike mechanics as Fred Flinstone (actually DNA testing has shown that Fred is genetically similar to primates, in particular baboons).

DRDan and Roley taking a break in the shade available at the top of Alkimos Hill…yes Marty is was very hot and yes Marty we slip, slopped, slapped.

DRDan and Peter also in the shade - but must have been too hot for the camera.

Roley then had this look come across his face and said it's the clutch plate, I am thinking "wow my big brother (and I mean big) does know something about bikes!" Then to destroy my newfound faith in his innate mechanical abilities he informs me that Col had predicted this event a week ago...

Now those of you who know of Cols powers of prediction, he had supervised Roley servicing his steed and notice some metal filings in the oil filter. Yes, his diagnosis was "your clutch is on its way out."

Well Roley and DRDan weren't the easiest riders to tow (yes Cols predictions have so scared me that I now carry a tow rope at all times) and I gave up after spinning wheels sideways and wheel stands whilst tethered to another bike. In the end I rode back, got the trusty recovery vehicle and recovered the mighty Yammy...

Now just when you are getting really bored and thinking to yourself "deep sand, heat, heat and more heat, broken bikes, etc etc" here is something from a past ride which Rob edited out of some CQ video footage. See if you can guess who the rider is...
