Well the first rains were announced by the media, so with short notice I announced a mid week skinny bike ride, short notice and a short 150km shakedown ride for 23, so the retiree and semi retiree joined the fifo lad and soon became the 3 old boyz. It was quickly evident that we were the first crusty pilots through the area as we set off dodging emus, skippys, joeys and piggies drinking the abundant supply of water throughout our route. I decided to increase the heart rate a notch for the ol boyz behind me, as we trans versed the first hill climb, Pounce came out third best, deciding to walk up the hill instead, as Tommy rode both bikes up while I sat on a corner listening to the mayhem at the top of the next incline. Pounce quickly scoped out all 3 rear tyres and soon came to the conclusion that his tyre was the most worn and that must have been the problem. Next section was incident free through sweeping open and single trails into Harris River and onto the rail line tracks into Collie for a few beverages at the Fed. We did arrive before opening time but the awesome staff opened the service bar so we could rehydrate and refill our dad bods with fresh healthy food choices ( wedges, onion rings and garlic bread) for the return trip. Pounce advised that he is only capable of riding for 15mins after excess hydration, so we kept stopping to unload all the goodness that we had ingested. We agreed with Tommy that we all rode with a lot more gusto after the lunch break. Back to Brunswick exploring a few more hard enduro single tracks before deciding as a group we are to responsible for that capper. I thought the first hill climb was entertaining so decided to make my way to Hooters Hill, I set off up the wrong entry and run out of momentum and skill and decided to ghost the KTM resulting in wrapping the bike around a tree and then slid on my arse back down the hill, absolutely stuffing up Tommy’s gallant effort to save his run up, sorry mate, as I got my sorry arse back on terra firma, looked up to see Pounce grinning like the Cheshire cat with camera in hand clicking away advising us that he knew the hill well and picked another easier route. Apparently it’s the famous Hooters Hill that the legend launched his KTM into oblivion all on film !! We stuck with open trails back to the start, incident free. Pounce remembered the carpark liquid ambers so we downloaded the ride experiences and then high fived and low fived each other before departing our separate ways. We timed it perfectly little to no dust all day, though still slippery in various areas engaging the asphyxna valve in more than one occasion. Thanks to Tommy and Pounce for joining me and sharing the camera and sweeping duties. Great ride to blow out the summer cobwebs on bikes and Dad bods, cant wait for the next ride and many more in 2023.

Hoofhearted

Thanks for the ride Hoofhearted the conditions were perfect well lead through some familiar tracks and some new tracks there are so many tracks down there its hard to keep going in the direction you want as you are tempted to explore them all. We got into Collie a bit early but we still managed to get a pint and food and miss any rain about 150ks for the ride so all in all a great day.
Thanks Tommy
