The rain came down last night turning Metro Road into perfect riding conditions. The morning was cool and a bit of light drizzle fell over the forest settling the dust and returning the clay to mud. A small group of Crustys arrived at the normal spot and were joined by two of Craig's mates on big bore XR's. Kx Steve rode lead, guiding the boys through one of the best rides I have been on. We meandered through goat trails, hill climbs and mud holes and then over some fast paced open trails. Crossing one of the bigger water and mud holes claimed two bikes on separate occasions. Rob was the first to go down, drowning the big CR. The Honda needed several attempts at dewatering the engine by turning it upside down with the plug out and turning the motor over until the water stopped flowing. 30 minutes later he had the old girl going again.

A VERY DIRTY CRF.

On the second crossing, Grant took a different approach to the water. Influenced by Colin he rode straight through the deepest section. The green machine stayed upright but at waist deep, took in a belly full of water and died in the arse. The KDX also needed the same treatment as Rob's CR and another 30 minutes passed before she roared back into life. Col also came down at the same mud hole on the third crossing. Luckily the WR stalled and by the time it hit the water it didn't suck any in and fired up straight away.

There were a couple of good contenders for the SOTD award today. Grant came down hard on a whooped out sand trail landing heavily and narrowly avoiding a rather large tree. He lay on the ground for a while with the wind knocked out of him but recovered quickly to get back on and continue the ride. Swat2 ended up with the award for his high speed dismount on a rutted out mud section, not to mention a few other offs he had throughout the day. Some people will do anything for an extra point. Rob pushed it hard all day, getting a little untidy at times and shot of the track on a couple of occasions taking out a large boulder and a tree.

THE BOYS HAVING A WELL DESERVED REST.

Craig's WR has been plagued with hot start problems for some time but today the bike started each time like a dream until the very last rest spot. After several plug changes and much kicking, the only thing to get it started was a bump start. I recon I can see a trade happening in the near future. KXSteve also needed a push to get the KX going after the bottom knuckle on his kick start broke off.

CRAIG AND KXSTEVE SHARING A SPECIAL MOMENT TOGETHER. THEY ARE VERY CLOSE AND HELP EACH OTHER WITH THE SMALL THINGS LIKE FILLING EACH OTHERS HYDRO PACKS.

The boys on the XR's decided one big loop was enough and although they had smiles from ear to ear were just too stuffed to go out on a second and headed home. Tiger's mate Pretz turned up on his DRZ400 at the lunch break and joined us for the second loop. He rode well and kept good pace with the rest of the boys. Although we had a few bike problems the ride was mint. KXSteve did a brilliant job leading us around two big loops and picked up ROTD for his efforts. Very soon the weather will warm up and the trails will turn to dust.

STEVE AND ROB HELPING OUT WITH A DROWN KDX BLING BLING BIKE.

Let all Enduro Men pray together for much rain and cool weather, a leave pass from the missus on the weekend and a new bike when ever the new model hits the shop. AMEN. (Psalm 24, Crusty Handbook)
