*****Ride report the holland track 27-29 Dec 05*****

Riders- Orry, Dan, Georgia, Ben and Caroline in the support vehicle

We left Perth via the Brookton Hwy and with no rush saw us refueling at Hyden around 1pm and unloading the bikes 60kms up the Hyden/Noresman Rd by 2pm.

We stopped the bikes 15kms into the track at a flat rock clearing just past a telecom tower and checked out the dragon lizards running around while we waited the short time it took for Caroline and Georgia to catch up so we could check that we had loaded things properly for the oncoming miles.
After having a look at a mallee fowls nest 8kms further up the track we let the 4wd catch up at the Forrestania rd 15kms further on.
Over the road and back on the track 10kms later and we were setting up camp in the Jilbadji nature reserve around 4pm (Ben road about until dusk)

The next morning saw us call into sandlewood rocks (flat granite rock about 50m in diameter) and pass the southern extremity of the east section of the state barrier fence.

Somewhere in the next 15kms Georgia picked up stack of the ride when as she says "the tree jumped out in front of me".
Here there is a plaque commemorating the centenary of Hollands exploration.

Another 40kms sees us past Frank Hanns cat camp of 1901 (he found lake percy) and at Krakouer rock for lunch (large granite rock area).
The afternoon sees us another 30kms further on having past Agnes Gnammer Hole and Diamond Rock setting up camp at Thursday Rock early at 3pm.

Hundreds of native bees swarmed our camp in search of water in the last couple of hours of light. Surprisingly we could move about with no one being bitten and as quick as they came they were gone.

20kms into the morning saw us loading the little Honda into the trailer at Victoria Rock Road as it is a main gazzetted road.

Victoria Rock is 35kms further on and then another 45kms to Coolgardie ending the Holland Track but not the trip.
ROTD Caroline because without her in the support vehicle we couldnt have done this trip.

track conditions- mainly hard packed sand, many sections wide open throttle and just as many sections tight blind corners

After spending 2 nights in Kalgoorlie with rellies we headed towards Norseman and the old Hyden-Norseman Road but thats another story. (has anyone info on the Mundale 4wd track).
