2006 Adventure Rally
The Adventure Rally 2006.
Well over 300 riders turned out for the 20th Adventure Rally held at Mornington Mills. 12 Crusty's made the trip down for what turned out to be a great ride. The weather was clear and quite cool in the morning but a lack of pre-ride rain meant it was a little dusty out there. Most of the crew headed down on Saturday arvo and camped out or stayed in the dorms. A great big bomb fire that Pete put together ensured we had somewhere warm to sit for the night and watch the drinkers get pretty sloshed and tell some good yarns. As the boys got separated throughout the ride it was impossible to name a rider of the day. Pete however picked up the mighty award of SOTD yet again. He blamed Roley for over shooting a corner (and following) and somehow hit a log and got pinned under his bike until Tiger cam along and sorted things out for him. Jaybo came in after the first loop looking a bit green around the gills and complaining of pains in the gut. He said he felt like having a throw in his helmet for the last half of the loop. Not a good thought. After a break and a couple of dry biscuits he was back out there. He was the last Crusty to take off and he got back first. (change of heart) I think I'll give Jaybo the ROTD award. Col and Pounce also came down for a look and support the boys. All the boys got home safely with varying comments about the days ride. Some said it was a top circuit though to bloody rocky and a little boring. Mind you, I recon that any day in the saddle is a good ride. Well done again fellows. The photos will tell the story.  THE BOYS ARRIVE DOWN SATURDAY ARVO.  NOW THESE ARE REAL ENDURO MEN, NOT LIKE THOSE PUSSY'S WITH RED BACK GROUNDS ON THEIR NUMBERS.  OVER THREE HUNDRED BIKES WERE LINED UP IN THE PITS.  THE RIDERS MEETING - THIS GUY SAYS "LOOK TO THE GUY STANDING ON YOUR LEFT, SOMEONE HERE TODAY IS LIKELY TO BREAK THEIR ARM AND ITS PROBABLY HIM". Nice thought.  THE NOLAN DASH - YOU HAVE TO LINE UP WEARING YOUR RIDING BOOTS AND RACE 75 M'S TO WIN A NEW HELMET. THEY GUY WEARING THE RED HELMET IS WEST COAST'S EAGLES TROY WILSON WHO WON THE RACE AND THEN GAVE THE HELMET TO THE GUY WHO CAME SECOND.  PETER, ROLEY AND TIGER.  KXSTEVE,STEVE525 AND CRAIG.  300 RIDERS LINE UP FOR THE START.  PETER AND ROLEY READY TO GO.  THE CRUSTYS ARE IN THERE SOMEWHERE. LOOKS LIKE KXSTEVE TRYING TO DO A MARTY MOOSE IMPRESSION.  GENTELMEN - START YOUR ENGINES.  THE LUNCH TIME BREAK. STEVE525 ALWAYS HAS A SMILE ON HIS FACE WHEN HE HAS A BURGER IN HIS HAND. |
