The Brookton Pony Express.

It was cancelled due to lack of rain, and then put off an extra week because it was still dry and finally we got to ride. It was certainly worth the wait. After the sighting lap I thought it was going to be a bit too hard. There were water crossing I thought were going to turn into huge mud holes, rocky sections that were very slippery and a bit tricky, long boggy sandy sections and even worse boggy corners filled with deep sand.

This ride was not for the faint hearted. Bec came in late after the sight lap with oil pouring out of the engine casing and telling us that she had come downs a dozen times and it was all a bit much for her so she decided to pull the pin. Pete was standing there holding his arm after crashing and he too had decided that he was not up to the ride. That left Rob and Roley without partners so after a quick chat with officials, they were teamed up and ready to give it there best.

The start was similar to most other Pony Expresses. The first rider away stood in front of his bike holding on to the bars with a dead engine. The farmer indicated the start with a blast from his shot gun and everyone fires into action. The first few k's were fast and furious and that was the best way to ride this course. You had to attack everything out there otherwise it was going to get you.

The course took just under 20 minutes for the average rider to complete and by the time I had knocked over a couple of laps I was really getting into a good rhythm. If you backed off and hesitated you were going to come down. We all got to see each other in and out of the pits and even passing each other on fence lines in the opposite direction. Kx Steve got bogged down in one of the water crossings and took an extra 15 minutes to complete one lap. I saw a few other guys bogged badly at the same crossing. The dynamic team of Steve 525 and Craig were on the boil today knocking over laps a deadly rate. Steve525 passed me within 10 k's of the start of the first lap and he took of f in the group behind me. I sat within for a while but he had the big KTM wound out on the rev limiter and I had no chance of keeping up with him .Well done Steve, I gave you ROTD.

Rob said the ride was awesome and loved every minute of it. Roley did a top job on the new DRZ and also had a big smile on the dial. Well done to everyone for a big effort.

This pic was taken off the T @ E club dirty news letter.

An extract from the big pic. Thats Col in the white shirt.

THE RIDER OF THE DAY. NO STEVE IS NOT SITTING ON THE POTTY - HE HAS JUST TAKEN HIS BLING GEAR OUT OF THE DRY CLEANER BAG AND HE IS GETTING DRESSED.

CRAIG'S PIT BITCH MAX - SHIT I HOPE SHE DOESN'T READ THESE REPORTS.

THAT LOOKS LIKE AN IRON WOMAN TO ME. ANY TOUGHER AND SHE WOULD RUST.

TWO OF THE BABOONS AND A RARE SHOT OF STEVE'S FACE.
