SAIGON - THE KING OF THE SCOOTERS.

Col, Julie and a mate Wayne decided to hire a couple of step throughs and get out and see a bit of the country side. A short walk down the road and a deal was made to hire the bikes for 100 000 dong a day (US $6.00). An offer of a helmet was made but what the heck, no one else wears them here so why would we.

WAYNE AND COLIN READY TO HIT THE ROAD.

Without a hire agreement in site or even a signature on a piece of paper we were ready to go. Wayne hadn't thrown a leg over a bike since he owned a RM 125 when he was 18. Being a little excited he fired up the beast and punched it through the gears weaving in and out of on coming traffic on the wrong side of the road. (They drive on the right over there). The little man we hired them of was yelling and waving his arms frantically until Wayne realised his mistake and shot over to the other side.

WAYNE (ROSSI VALENTINO)

After a few minutes we were out of the busy area and on a country highway that hugged the coast line for miles. Stopping occasionally to get a photo or to buy a cold drink, we rode about 30 k's or so and headed back. . Having no idea where we were going and turning into lobsters due to a lack of clothing, the hot sun and the wind, back to the pool we went.

By this time Wayne had turned into Rossi Valentino and had the little bike pegged at 75 kph, overtaking everything in site and testing the handling ability of 110 cc on rough roads and slippery corners. Julie quiet happily sat on the back of Col's bike enjoying the scenery and the quieter ride. The tour ended without incident and no SOTD (Thank God). Wayne picked up ROTD and Julie pillion passenger of the day. We had that much fun we kept the bikes for a few more days and just rode around locally backwards on forwards from the hotel and restaurants.

JULIE AND WAYNE HAVING A BREAK AND TAKING IN THE SCENERY.

THATS GREAT COL BUT WHICH ONE IS OURS.

If you get a chance - get to Vietnam, hire yourself a scooter and go have some fun.
