Lano - Cervantes.

Put Sully up front to lead the group, Pete at the rear to make sure everyone is following and a bunch of guys in the middle who only know how to ride flat out and you have the recipe for a fast paced ride filled with plenty of near misses, the odd off and some big smiles. Sully picked up ROTD for a job well done. It's been said plenty of times before but a good lead rider certainly changes an average ride into a fantastic ride.

We had a new guy David out for his first real CQ ride along with Daza who has only had a couple and then a great mixture of the old regular players and the return of three CQer's who have not been out on a ride for a long time. Brad came along on the big 525 and Marci on the really sweet looking WR 450 ( been living over sees for a year) and Isaacs on a one day old WR450 who went into semi retirement after selling the big Honda way back.

Isaacs forgot the WR's respond to a hand full of throttle a little better than those big Hondas and put the shiny new machine on her back picking up SOTD and giving the new bike its first deep scratches.

The ride flowed well with each half taking about 2 hours including a few rest stops and pee stops for Brad. He said it was the coke but I think he should be checked by the Doctor. LOL. Big Col Mc has quickly taken to the sand and was showing plenty of form in the deep stuff with Danny riding the big two stroke like a pro and giving us a little look at his riding ability. The Grunta tried hard all day mixing it up front on the new KTM with Daza taking his turn throughout the ride and commenting tongue in cheek - Gee boys, do you think we could ride a little faster!!!!

Tiger was happy to keep Pete company most of the ride down the back but the real excitement was when the group left Wedge for the return to Lano. As always, the throttles were turned fully open and the pace was on. Col and Pete both picked up a bee sting on the ride. Back at the cars, Pete's stomach had swollen to a hideous size.

Nath turned up on a 150 Quad import and decided to stick to the dunes in the off road area for the day and not try the epic journey on the pint sized four wheeler. A great ride was had by all. The old Lano ride, although always pretty predicable, provides plenty of excitement and a few heart stopping moments particularly with the amount of 4 x 4's out there.

Thanks fellows.

A rest spot at the army sentry.

The sign says - No littering - it didn't say NO pissing.

Just for something different - a pic on the beach at Wedge.

A short rest just before the dirt on the way back from Cervantes.
