Report

With other commitments for Bazza, H & Haydn 525 on Saturday a local ride for Sunday was called, the day started off at "The old CQ Ground". H and Haydn got there to find Bazza already waiting, sat by the side of the road. An early start meant there wasn't much other traffic about. For a winters day the weather was perfect, sunny but not too warm.

Bazza was re-fueled up ready for the off. It's been a while since the last ride up at the old ground, the tracks were totally different to previous outings. Most of the sections were Whooped Out with large holes that had appeared going over some of the crests. The sand was pretty deep in places which made for tough riding. After the group got to the Alkimos sand, the boys took a breather only to find a couple of 4 x 4's already bogged. A couple of smokers powered over the sand, Haydn said "they look nice and light!"....................

The first loop took the boys around to the back section parallel to Wanneroo Rd. On the way back to the coast it was much easier as the sun was behind and not in your eyes, it meant the pace could be picked up as you could see the tracks clearly. The 4 x 4 tracks made for good riding as most of the corners had small berms.

Once back at the vehicles for re-fueling, it was decided to head out to the pines for a blast around the fire trails, this is where the fun started. On the bitumen waiting to join Wanneroo Rd. H set off to make the right turn, Haydn was behind with Bazza at the rear. Haydn moved forward but decided to wait for another gap in the traffic, H turned to catch a glimpse of Bazza's front wheel unfortunately lift up and hit the back of Haydn. The 525KTM was sent right into Wanneroo Rd, were it commenced doing a donut as the throttle stuck on, luckily Haydn was clear of the bike and Luckily no one was injured. Bazza received an aero-dynamic (Re-shaped) right foot peg, together with the STOD award for this one (Well done Bazza). The 525 KTM nearly ended up as "Road Kill" but fortunately for Haydn there were no road-trains or heavy trucks to be seen, the 525 only received a few scratches, nobody was hurt and off again to the Pines.

The sand at the Pines was much the same as the last outing, which meant the pace picked up again, as the fuel was now getting low on the second loop, the boys had to make their way back to base.

All in all, another good ride on the trails of WA..................................
