Report by Col.

Six riders turned out on time and another two stragglers running late caught the group just before Wedge. It was another picture perfect winters day. There was a little light rain on the screen of the car during the drive up but by the time I pulled into the off road car park the rain clouds had blown away.

The tracks become very hard pack after a week of rain and a lot of the holes are refilled with dirt leveling the surface making it just right for a Saturday morning squirt. Col Mc lead the ride and although he kept a good pace he rode intelligently (hard for him) backing off on the corners and blind crest. He dropped the odd corner man down where needed and ensured we were all traveling in an upright position by regrouping regularly. Well done Col, that's an extra point buddy. ROTD.

Jamie and Dinkum had some dramas this morning and were running late so they had to get on the gas and follow our tracks to catch the rest of the boys. They picked us up near the dunes just before Wedge and joined the group. Dinkum rode well mannered taking his turn throughout the group with Jamie chasing anyone he found himself riding behind pushing the big Adventurer along like a smoker in a MX event.

I think Haydn has developed a special relationship with Big Col after riding within a few meters of him most of the ride. What's the saying???, like S#&T to a blanket. Haydn likes the sand and even enjoyed 20 odd k's of boggy stuff leading us towards Cataby. Tiger sat back and enjoyed a good trail ride with a very close near off right where Pete crashed on the last occasion. It was very close mate.

Choko turned up with the new WR. After some initial starting problems (and what pre 03 WR's don't have them) he was off with his arse planted firmly on the seat most of the way and although his skill level has picked up yet again, it was not out done by his ability to look like he is going to crash but somehow save himself at the last moment. Good onya Choko, you will be making me eat your dust in no time.

Pounce and the other hand is a bit like me, we are not going to get any better no matter how hard we try. After riding through the long section of soft stuff he face turned from disappointment to all smiles when I mentioned we would ride back the "other "way. Although the other way takes in a fair amount of bitumen and gravel road work, the trails from then on in are just the best around. They throw a little bit of everything at you and you get to do it at a decent pace. Ask anyone who has ridden the section and they will tell you the same thing.

Don't try this trail unless there has been plenty of rain as the deep sand turns into a big dusty bog hole. Col Mc suggested this could be a great place for a CQ time trail section. And I reckon he could be on the money. We will see how we go organising a day up that way in the near future.

ONE OF THE NEW FELLOWS DINKUM. JAMIE SAYS THAT'S A SPARE REAR SPROCKET IN HIS EAR. I RECKON ITS WHERE YOU CONNECT THE TOW ROPE WHEN HIS HONDA BREAKS DOWN.
