Report by Col.

What a huge turnout. 17 riders turned up for yet another blast to Wedge and then back to the time trial for a bit of fun. You can see from the results (see results section) that plenty of guys are prepared to give it a go. Most are happy to see how quick they can ride and then better the time later and some are only interested in beating the guy they turned up with. What ever their reasons, there was plenty of throttle twisting and engines running on rev limiters.

H just loves this stuff and proved to be the quickest on the day. The sub two minute club has yet to be joined but I don't think it will be long before someone gets across the line. Beau called this ride as he was more than keen to see Wedge in the day time. (Only ever ridden a night ride to Wedge in the past). At the end of the ride he came up with Adrian's favorite line but was totally serious about it. He said that "it was the best ride he had ever been on". He said that never before has he turned the throttle so far and for so long. A few others commented on his pace for the day and for this he picks up the prestigious ROTD award. Well done buddy.

Of course the other award for the day is not so prestigious but if worthy, is still awarded. A new guy by the name of Kirky came along on his first CQ ride on a XR 250. He has only been at it for a few months and not that familiar with sand. He picked up the SOTD's award for not the best off but certainly the most frequent. He also picks up the luckiest bastard award as well. At a regroup near the end of the ride he realized he had lost his bum bag containing wallet, keys, money etc. Roley, Col and Kirky headed back to see if they could find the gear before the day turned into a complete disaster for him. Fortunately the bag was found about 10 k's back on the trail much to the relief of Kirky.

It was good to see a few of the old boys out for a ride including Gazza, Cliff and Lethal. After the time trial and a few k's of those top trials, Lethal volunteered to lead the group back through some new tracks. The tracks were a combination of fast paced stuff, over grown two lane 4 x 4 trails and sand dunes. There was very little cap rock on these trails and they were a blast. Thanks Lethal for taking over and showing the way.

My only worry for the day was when I spotted Tiger getting ready in the morning. He looked like a reject from the Rocky Horror picture show with his arse cheeks hanging out of those tight little shorts. The combination of long socks and knee guards really only needed a pair of fish nets to complete the ensemble.

A sweet transvestite

Col Mac was disappointed Roley wouldn't let him ride the DRZ in the time trial.

Haydn apparently thinks the best way to get a good time is to fall off at the half way mark.

H in action.

The new fellow Kirky just before he flipped it up a sand dune.

A great view of the surrounding area from our new look out.
