Report by Col

With all the hype of the West Coast Tour this week, most seem to lose interest in an average Saturday mornings ride. With the chance of some rain late in the week it was decided that it would be better to hold off announcing the location in case the rain turned the dust into mud up in them (dem) hills.

With very few acknowledging the call for an official ride, I thought it was s only going to be Roley and myself out there today. Col Mc turned up as did Roger and Jay 525 with of course the compulsory new guys, Cyril, Oscar and Hooters.

Big Col lead the small group out of Lano and towards Wedge. Jay and Hooters have plenty of ability and after being dropped to mark a corner would quickly make their way back through the pack and up into second position again. Ability or not, there are a lot of other vehicles using the main tracks so please be a little more careful fellows - we don't want to see you attached to the bonnet of a 4 x 4.

With all the talent around it was difficult to call the ROTD award. Firstly I thought it was between Jay and Hooters for going hard and making it look easy, then I decided that one of the new guys Oscar who is a little shorter than Grunta and rode a 640 KTM with all the rally gear attached and a trail tyre on the back better deserved the award. Well done Oscar you do well to keep it upright most of the time.

After a rest on the beach at Wedge and riding my bike through a wave up to the tank we headed out to take in the fast flowing trails. These trails always result in large smiles and today was no exception. Next was a blast at the time trial for three daring riders. Jay picked up the best time today at 2:.06.0 with hooters not far behind at 2:09.0 and Roger coming in at 2:31.0 after leaving the track and taking out a tree. Roger also nearly came to grief over the last jump with his boots off the pegs and nearly going over the bars in top gear.

Cyril managed a few decent offs today and was awarded the prestigious SOTD award for his lack of ability at staying upright. Someone has to get the award buddy. Well done. Roley took his usual role as sweep and managed not to lose anyone this time. You must be getting a bit better big Bother.

The group all made it back to the cars in one piece with a few on reserve but engines still running. Hooters said he had a blast as well as Oscar. Cyril looked absolutely stuffed and was probably asleep before this report was even written. Some of us went to the bakery for a pie (or two Col Mac) which is the only reason we bought dirt bikes, all the gear on go to Lano on Saturday to ride.

Rest spot at Wedge.
