I was secretly hoping for a small turnout as exploring can involve a bit of stopping/starting, but low and behold as I arrived at the Lakes I was greeted by a sea of golden yellow bikes. It was like arriving in heaven. We had 18 show up for one of the best days riding I've had. 3 new guys turned out with 15 regulars.
ROTD & SOTD both have to go to Hooters mate XRGlenn, for someone that has never riden on dirt and has only had a couple of lessons on tar, the guy was unstoppable. To prove he deserves SOTD, just look in the gallery.
It happened on that hill we tried getting up the other week. Everyone but Adrian and me had a go at it with a few of the guys doing it in style, others... not so much. Roger did some damage to his back brake here, so he had none for the rest of the ride. Andrew took my helmetcam for a blatt up it but didn't mention he came off on the way. Footage looks good. There was not so much carnage on the hill but bikes and bodies were all over the place. Laughter could be heard for miles.
At one stage I may have forgotten to put a corner man down as we lost 5 riders. I called an overdue regroup and had to double back as we were missing 6 blokes. Came accross Andrea who hadn't moved from his corner for a good 15/20 minutes (well done) then rode on to the next one and no one was there. Headed back, picked up Andrea and went and got the others. On the way back I came around this corner and there's Andrew bearing down on me at a billion kph! SHIT!!!! Choko had gotten a flat a fair way back on the trail before the corner I didn't put anyone on. They'ld found us by following our tracks. That section of the track is ALL windy, hilly and brilliant. It was heading towards the creek area so that's where I want to go back and sort the loop out but may need one more ride to sort it.
There were lots of hill climbs, fast trails, a couple of roady bits and some single trail. Again, all you could ask for
