Report by Col.

It is often difficult each week to write a report when so many of the rides are similar. You have to look hard to find someone or something that stands out that sets this ride apart from the others. Today's was no exception. We gathered at the off road area as usual. A few of the group who hadn't met before introduced themselves to each other. I gave a brief riders talk before the helmets were put on and we were off to do battle with nature.

H rode up front like he often does at Lano, without Pete or Roley around today Adrian (Ruby) took over as sweep . We headed up the main track and then turned inland to follow the fast but somewhat boggy trails before swinging west and meeting up again with the main trail. H lead us over for a very quick break at Wedge and then back to the time trial area before subjecting the group to the 20 plus k sectioned of axle deep boggy, sandy shit . Pete, Roley and I came and rode this section two or three times a day in preparation for the Fink last year and for the life of me I can't see why you would want to ride it for any other reason. Exiting at the other end I found half a dozen riders slouched over their bikes not saying a whole lot. A few more turned up before Adrian fronted and said "Well F@#K my brown dog, that was great fun".

A short run down the Highway and we refueled and had a bite at Cataby. The only highlight of that part of the day was listening to a bunch of ugly old men talk about the rear of the young waitress. Come on guys - You all know is was only Daza that would have had a chance!!!!!!

Leaving Cataby and heading down the long transport section of tar, Col Mac's (Kost Too Much) kept stopping. After Col removed the seat and tank and had a play with the carby, Mick450 thought he would check the fuel tap only to find no fuel was actually coming out. The problem was finally solved after a few more stops. A blocked after market breather on the cap was causing the tank to pull a vacuum and not let fuel out the tap.

The group then hit the best part of the ride. Those fast compact inland trails where I can even get my 450 on the rev limiter in top gear on plenty of occasions. The regroup at the end of this section never seems to any different. Just a bunch of guys sitting proudly on their steeds talking about how fast they went, how much air they got and how close to the roos they were. It was even suggest that GOD may have made a mistake when creating this section and made it tooooo good.

We then kept on the inland trails and headed home. These too are quite quick in places with the odd gotcha here and there. Pat found out the hard way. Dropping over a crest he landed in a deep water rut and somehow managed a half decent double somersault landing heavily on his back a few meters away in the bush. Adrian said it was a ripper and put forward the prestigious nomination for the SOTD award. Pat was visibly shaken and a little sore and this slowed his pace down for the rest of the ride. Good onya Pat for continuing.

On the subject of awards. Although Daza was the only nomination for the day and he himself put forward the nomination, I thought his effort did actually deserve the extra point. Well done Daza for riding hard all day and staying near the front of the pack.

The ride was nearly over when that one thing that stands out from other rides took place. Not that we will share on here what took place but the big fellow, and you all know who we are talking about, did probably the biggest dummy spit I have seen on a CQ ride. I think we have just found a new award. Maybe Roley can present this award properly in laminated form at the next CQ award day!!!!

THE NEW CQ AWARD - TO BE PRESENTED AT A LATER DATE - BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN!!!!
