A few crazy crusty's ventured all the way down the Albany highway for the Katanning Pony Express run by the Katanning motorcycle and scramble club. Myself, Scott, Knighty, Ant, Sera, Rick and Sarah were lucky enough to score a bed at a mates farm near Broome Hill. Whilst the boys spent the night catching marron and shooting whatever was in sight, us girls slept soundly in a very warm farm house!!

The event included both quads and two wheelers as well as juniors and seniors, all on the same track at the same time. There had been alot of rain in the area and the track was extremely muddy in places. The day started with a sighting lap which took a very long time, given the track condition and the number of riders, 103 including juniors. A few makeshift bridges managed to hold up over the day, and a few riders managed to get themselves well stuck in the mud. Very different event to those run by T&E. Mainly in the casualness of the event. There was very little signage and I found myself going the wrong way in one section coming out of the pine trees. Didn't realise until a quad was coming the other way!!! I then saw a few other riders make the same mistake. There were a few tracks running off the main track from where others had taken shortcuts.

Personally I don't feel that juniors and seniors should be using the same track, especially in tight sandy terrain which requires aggressive riding techniques On my last lap I helped 3 young boys, two couldn't start their bikes and 1 was stuck in the sand, all while seniors were zooming past.

All in all a good day, with no major injuries and well done to Hooters and Rob for getting 3rd place in B grade and Wes and Brian(?) getting 4th place in B grade as well. Scott and Brad finished fourth in A grade, with 10 laps. My partner pulled out after the sighting lap so i did 3 laps although they never timed any of them!

Hooters:

massive weekend at kojonup. a few of us camped a few camped at caravan park and a few drove down sunday morning. awesome track quite tight in places and bogs and mud flats everywhere- most had a rider parked and staring into space!! and i saw one guy getting towed out with a quad!!! it was a very physical track and most of us were flogged at the finish especially those riding a nasty cr 500!! rob and i jagged 3rd in b grade. thanks to rob i recon i was just trying to stay alive! fiona is doing report this is my 5 cents worth. all in all wicked weekend

Rider of the Day: Can we half it between Hooters and Rob for getting 3rd place ????
---> No :) ... we'll give it to Rob. Hooters needs to lift his game.

Stack of the Day: Any stories ???
