The "break away" Ride Group 2 - Smell the Flowers Tour!

H, Steve, Roley (no ROTD or SOTD)

Two rides were kinda called with ColMc suggesting a Lano to Cervantes and H suggesting an explore out of Lano to get the hang of his new GPS and find some new trails. It was an early boot up for a 7.30 start. H, Steve and myself arrived at 7.31 with the rest of the crew (minus Deets) booted up trying to kick some life into Fis beast. After a little banter it was agreed that the rest of the group were definitely heading for Cervantes and the three of us were going on a mystery tour led by H. Next time we best get the ride call sorted out a bit earlier in the week!

The Three Amigos covered 113 kms, going out as far as the time trial track and doing half the fast track beyond. Howard also took us on some new tracks after we picked up the Cataby sandy track then swinging south in a big arch back on some of the more well known CQ tracks. The only real excitement was passing numerous bee hives making the most of the masses of wild flowers, riding amongst swarming bees, fortunately we did not resemble attractive flowers! A few roos were also spotted but nothing like past rides up here - and we all know how H attracts roos!

Early in the ride while I was smelling the flowers as the Sweep I picked up a piece of that mongrel fencing wire on the rear wheel! Luckly I pulled up quickly and was able to untangle it before it had done any real damage.

H also took the time to give Steve some of his expert tips on riding in the sand and taking corners on the pegs with a bit of the old steer with the back wheel that H is so well known for! By the end of the ride Steve was clearly taking on these tips and even pulling away from me!

This the most sedate riding I have ever seen by H, taking in the scenery and checking out his GPS as we mostly cruised around, though every so often he would give the big WR a handful and quickly be a blip on the horizon! In fact when we go to the fast track I left Steve and went after H but lost sight of him very quickly. When I came over a rise there he was sitting on his fully sponsored girlie Hairhouse Warehouse bike pointing back at me, with a huge smile on his face. I reckon he had been there that long that when he fired up his bike to head home it was a cold motor start! Sorry H, Steve and I are not up to your pace and Steve was on the look out for roos after all the skippy stories we had scared him with!

On the way home we called into the usual bakery and had the mandatory meat pie (Two-pie Hindley only had one! trust me). Another great day out, no stacks and everyone home safe, though the body could feel the kms well lead H another good laff!
