The ride report probably should have been called dumb and dumber rather than the Wimp ride. After a brief telephone conversation on Friday night, it was decided Merv would me at my place at 9.00 and we would head out to the secret ride spot for some fun. I checked the tyre pressure, fueled the bike and loaded it onto the trailer. At 9.02 Merv arrived, booted up and astride the WR ready to roar. He thought we were riding from my place, I thought we were trailing it out there!!!!! After another brief conversation the WR was also loaded onto the trailer and we were off.

The trails were firm and fast in general with some wet patches in some of the valleys. On the way out we came across a large muddle where I quickly diverted through the bush to avoid the water. Merv also followed me around the obstacle but said I am going to ride through that on the way back. Although Merv has ridden in the area since he was 13 we still managed to find the odd trail he hadnt been on before. We also did a bit of cross country riding and followed the remains of an old water course a fair distance which was a real blast.

The return ride bought us back to the water and mud hole. I pulled aside Merv and told him to wait up until I rode AROUND it and got the camera out. Merv obliged and I got a decent 30 seconds of him going in both directions. He then pulled up next to me and did his best to

Talk me into having a go.
Put some peer pressure on me.
Convince me that he went through the deep side and the other would be a breeze.
Tell me how much he enjoyed the experience.
Threaten to write the ride report and highlight my inability to float.

Now after many years of riding and experiencing a variety of mud holes and water crossing I know not to go looking for trouble. I have got stuck up to the tank in mud, gone over the bars and have drowned a motor. There was also one other small issue. I was riding a bike that stopped if the weather man forecast rain but it didnt actually fall. Merv finally gave up in we rode back to the cars, loaded up and spent the next 40 minutes driving home and reminiscing about the days ride. Back at Mervs another unnamed Crusty drove past hoping we would say that we had a crap ride and it was lucky it didnt come along!!! Sorry Buddy It was a beauty and I noticed you are falling behind Merv on ride points!!!

The wimp ride or Dumb and Dumber.
