Late start by CQ standards, 9.30 meet and booting up at the carpark. New player Fudge has joined us and is aboard a brand new Klx looking way to shinny. Couple of weeks old and no battle scars but I can work on that. Plan for today was an easy ride and back around 12.30 to keep some work commitments.

What eventuated was a spread of the best bits we could find. Did find some whoops but tried to keep them to a minimum but we all know that it is impossible up that way to completely dodge them. Found a good blend of limestone tracks, smooth dustless sand fire breaks and weaving between rows of trees. Worked the way to a Google track I had spotted but when we got there we couldn’t find it. Bit of scouting and there it was. 3-4 ks of disused track over grown with bushes and some big white pointy rocks, slow going but great fun.

More blend of tracks and not quite sure of where we are but come across a nice hill climb challenge. Three goes and Fudge is up and the first of some character for the new plastics. Two goes for Vincent displaying a nice bit of acrobats on the first. Photo looks like Fudge was riding but we all took turns playing catch the bike.

Generally cruise around finding more single-track tight stuff and a magic long straight run in between the trees on a bed of golden pine leaves. One track I had searched out turned out to be parallel about 50 mtrs to the left to the one we were on, a very soft 4x4 track in sand that seemed to go on forever. Checked the distance and it was only 3ks tops but it felt like – well 3.5 at least.

Time running out we head back to the cars down limestone but looking out and turning back if need be to find some cross flat sand tracks to blast along.

Overall we covered about 50ks and I think this has become more of a medium to tuff ride instead of the easy cruise on offer. Saw a bit of all on offer and even found 2 small puddle of wet stuff we just had to ride through so at least we had some dirt on the bikes to show for the effort. With low dust even the sweep, Vincent, was clean – thank for your work up back. New player Fudge tried and enjoyed his first CQ ride and looking forward to more.

For a “Not so good Thursday” it has been a great time.
