Freeride in the Northern Hills
“Freeride in the Northern Hills”
Saturday Ride report Riders: MickKal, Rooster Mick and WrfPaul With most of the more extreme Crusty riders going to Pounces fully booked 200klm ride, 2 Micks and 1 Paul decided to have a Gentleman’s start at 9:00 at the Northern Hills Gravel carpark and do a lazy 80klm. I led the ride with the intention of following a similar loop to the crusty ride we did there last week. Last week I did it on my ktm 525 and this week I wanted to do it on my sons KTM Freeride. Awesome bike it ate up all the single tracks and made the hard stuff look easy, It seemed that it was impossible to make the wheels spin but somehow still managed to go deceptively quick, I want one. Conditions for the ride were perfect, the ground was wet enough to get some grip and all the creeks were full. We checked out two new trails that I had on my list to explore but both turned out to be dead ends. Then Rooster Mick took the lead for a section and found some new tracks. WrfPauls fuel light came on so we decided to head back to base just as the rain started. No offs for the day to speak of. Packed up in the rain, so no beers and went home happy with 109klm clocked up for the day. |
