We met up at Wrights Bridge at 8:00am and let Pete choose as to which direction to head off on as we’re pretty sure this was going to be his last ride before taking off around Australia. So with perfect conditions for riding we took off.
We did a few sections of trails and hill climbs that we have done before, but also taking the opportunity to do some exploring as well, as there was just the three of us making it easier to do so.
Some tracks started out well only to end up fighting our way thru blackberry bushes, which wasn’t much fun as they have very thorny vines, and some trails ended up being a challenge to get thru to the other end. We did find some new single trail which was a blast to ride, with most trails and tracks offering huge amount of traction.
We worked our way through to some familiar tracks only to find that they are doing a fair bit of logging out Nannup-Balingup area and, in doing so, we are losing good sections of single trails through the pines. Also, the 4WD’s are stuffing up good sections of tracks.
We did pick up on some tracks that I haven’t rode in awhile and one hill we haven’t done in few years. Last time it took about an hour to get up as it is quite a big hill climb, but this time with the amount of traction on offer I think it was harder going down than heading back up. We all made it up, no dramas.
After that hill climb it was back to the cars for a nice cold beer and relax.
So cheers to Pete and Woody for another awesome ride. I’m sure this was Pete’s last ride and wish him and his wife all the best as they head off on the journey around this great country of ours. I’m sure he will be thinking of all the great riding he will be missing out on over this winter.
I’d like to say that I got some great action photos, but I didn’t so I’m going to have to work on that one.
Cheers Dazza
