I called a Northern hills ride mid week, It's close to mine and after 2 days of riding a cruise around the hills would be awesome. I've been riding single track hard endure with a pretty young crew of lads, so normally I've got the "masters class" well and truly wrapped up but Saturdays crew was loaded with old man trickery, lies and treachery. I was a touch late, and the mythical wide load ( that no one has ever seen...) was responsible for Dave also rocking up a bit tardy. I was leading, so decided to mix it up and take random trails as I found them, then meander back to the cars. Super sweep Jacko was bringing up the rear. We started on a few short single tracks actually pretty close to the cars, then we dropped into a creek that closed off an turned into Ezberg, every one was now warmed up ready to ride! Some cool bush bashing turned a bit tight so we bashed thru to a road and continued on just taking random trails, a bit of directional advice saw us over to the hill section for a play. We dodged a few 4wd's and a couple of bikes and followed trails till we hit the boundary. We found a marked single track that started off really cool and snaked thru the bush for a couple of k's and finished with a challenging greasy rocky jump up that had the air ripe with swearing and the tang of coolant. We had a break admiring the view and resting up and then decided to bee line back to the beer. Due to our gentlemanly start we got back to the cars and the beer shortly after 2pm lessons were learned due to Carls mishap and the bikes were loaded with caution, Pikey used his point an shoot method, which works....mostly....for him. Us mortals used more traditional methods. So the day was a wrap, beers were drank and lies told. Great day out thanks for sweeping Jacko, and the directional pointers from the crew.

Ciao Hooters

ps. it needs to be recorded in crusty lore that the oldest crusty was the only one to follow me up the creek, onya Pikey!!!!

Good ride today from the banned one.6 was a good number.
It flowed well and almost seemed as though you knew where you were going.
Leading the ride and supplying the pensioner with beer is as good as it gets.

The few challenges today reminded us of rides from days gone by ,where it was not always easy.

Thanks Jacko for sweeping. You can have a break any day and no one would complain.
Dave you are keen coming from Mandurah.Maybe next time a bit closer.

A nice hot bath and a Corona should do the trick.
