The Pines
Well i finally got what i had been looking for today, since getting the new KTM - a ride in the thickest of the sand!
Only Kev showed up at the OVT, but Acid Gloves Eddy joined us later, even tho he was never on the pace! I got to sample the joys of Pippidini(sp?) and the dunes at Alkimos, where i also got to sample the taste of the WA sand. Tastes much like any other sand when you are face first into it. Anyway, the tyre marks showed everything you needed to know, as my front wheel dug into a 10" high soft sand mound and got dragged straight left, whilst i carried straight on over the bars. Said bars tried to take a bite of me as i went past and i am sure to have a nice Magura Hickey in the morning! Anyway, that Kev fella was carving up the dunes, pulling wheelies and generally making my efforts look rather rubbish. He can ride a bit!!!! My excuse is being old, fat, bald and talentless. Oh and that deep sand had some part to play, but it wasn;t as bad as i had been lead to beleive and i will get to grips with it. Kev can have ROTD for sure, if we are handing out points and as i was the only one on the ground, i'll have to have SOTD! |
