Ride Report 12.9.09 - Husq Mike.
Players: Pounce, Col Mac, Jacko, Husq Mike & Walker
Five of us braved the miserable looking Saturday morning . We arrived at the meeting point in time then headed off.
This was a bit of an exploratory trip because Jacko & I had only been there once & Pounce the same.
Minor hiccup at the start - I had Two right boots. On the bright side at least they were the same size. Also had the trusty yellow raincoat.
ColMc decided he wanted a break from lead, so sweep duty for the morning.
Jacko started off as lead because at least he knew the name of the road we were on.
Initially, nice damp gravel roads with the occasional large puddle.Real hills stuff.
This is where Walker gets his SOTD. Slippery rut, bike goes down. Not much of a spill but it stopped the start button from working for the rest of the day, so he gets it as the kickstart was used way too many times.
Jacko & I eventually recognized the spot where an old Enduro goat track started.
My turn for a go at lead. Great little run, although I had forgotten about the whoops with trees 50mm each side of the handlebars.
We hit the first creek crossing, which looked innocent enough. It wasn’t. Everyone got stuck & needed a helping hand to get out. All ended up with wet boots.
Pounce seemed to get his bearings and then took over lead. Plenty of water, some nice bermy corners & best of all some very greasy stuff.
The run almost came to a stop when we came across a major creek. After wandering around like a bunch of old women, Pounce decided to charge across, and made it look easy. The rest followed with no problems either.
Second last was Husq Mike who had a rear traction issue, and left Col Mac with super rut to tackle.
I did help him out though.
The last blast took as round to some pretty mean hills. We decided to go down not up.
Some how we managed to find our way back to the camp. No injuries, no one lost, some laughs and the weather ended up perfect.
