Date 25/Apr/12
5 Riders Fudge, Jacko, Rothy, waynovb, wr steve
Rider of the day Fudge
Stack of the day Not awarded
Jacko called an ANZAC Day ride and 5 Crusties showed up at 7ish at The Rock Inn.
Were having a yarn when I notice something not quite right with the Kato. Oh Shit , I've left the oil filler plug at home on the boat trailer. Resigned to going home I'm feeling a bit bummed. Nothing will fit the thread, then Rothy finds a red coupon kicking around in his car and Jacko rips out some FixIt glue,5 mins later and I'm good to go. How goods that.0730 and we head off to park spot.
We boot up have the usual pre-start chat and were ready, a minutes silence for the Diggers then were off.
Jacko leads off on the usual tracks and we realise how dusty it it.Not much rain around these parts.Everyone has the flat tyre syndrome, but we soon get use to it. Arrive at Bannister and all is good a few offs but nothing decent.A Quick bite and top up and were off again. Doing well for a while then Jackos GPS is giving him a bit of grief. We backtrack a bit then ad lib a bit and were back on course and Jackos off again. At about 110 ks we have a regroup, its quite warm by now and I'm getting thirsty, Rothys hanging for a brew too . Won't take long now .....wrong...Jacko pulls out some wicked single trak, then some hilly stuff and then some more. Fudge is just about a shot bird, and he's having a few lay downs along the way. A few other people are too. Me Rothy and Steve are that parched we'd drink a gallon of Emu Export through a bus drivers sock. Finally we pass the familiar rocks and ruts and were back at the car. I neck a bevy and check out my speedo
159.9 kms. Thats a 100 mile in my book. A few more brews a quick postmortem of the events and were off.
A really good ride by Jacko again (especially the special test loop on the way back) everyone except Rothy (thanks for sweeping all day) had at least 1 off but all OK (Hows the knee Fudge). With only 5 of us we all got to have a good look at each others riding and I think we'd all agree that Fudge gets ride of the day (only his 2nd ride in yonks) for fairly ripping along, despite tyres well past their use by date and all on a KLX250.
