The Lakes on Sunday
ride report for lakes sunday ride.
sadly not great numbers, a couple of no shows and a sleep in for spike meant we were few. GMac, thommo, acid gloves eddy and myself along with 2 others who joined us (not crustys). great little group meant we were able to keep moving well which kept us warm on a morning that saw a -1 on one of the car temps on the way up the hill. We only really stopped when we caught a bigger group and did some bench racing sessions which I'm sure gav won. later in the ride gav suffered a flat tire and broken spoke (possibly related) so we had a slow ride back along the power lines which was a good thing due to the peak hour traffic like numbers of 4WDers out enjoying the day too. slow speed kept us safe from the bull bars and availed us the opportunity to 'play' on the hills a little, choosing difficult lines for a challenge. the creek was the highlight as usual which is prime at the moment with little standing water, but great grippy dirt to scratch up! ROTD to GMac along with SOTD for his early departure from upright after finding a single rock at speed that bucked him off into the mud. thanks to all, cu next time.  |
