Xr cass and I had an interesting ride today.its been seven years since we last did that ride. I planned it all out on the gps and decided to take the green machine as it's more suited to that type of ride. Problem was I forgot I had taken the gps mount off it.so with gps in pocket we headed off navigating from memory. Did a few wrong turns but we got up into the hills after a couple of hours. We rode around turning into any tracks we saw. Finally some nice single track in a heavily wooded area. Right left right left bang, I had a head on with a bike coming the other way. Luckily we were both ok except for my toe hit by the other guys foot peg. Not broken but it's purple and sore. We carried on and then headed back towards the ovt. Some soft sandy tracks back on the coastal plain. Cass does about 100 kph on them and I just kept falling off. At least it doesnt hurt on soft sand. All up we did 200 ks and had a great days riding followed by a coldy at the pub.
Jacko

Another 200 kms with Jacko ...

I was up for a sat AM ride after all the rain we had but I wasn't keen on a few hours of bitumen first so suggested an OVT ride. No Takers - but Jacko piped up with an offer to show me the way from OVT through through to somewhere near Julimar. I had ridden it once before a few years back but couldn't remember how to get from GinGin to Julimar without miles of blacktop.

Jacko turned up at the OVT with a green bike - minus the GPS handlebar mounts which were installed on one of his other bikes (!) so it was GPS in the pocket for when we get stuck and follow ya nose the rest of the time. Hardly any backtracking at all and there we are ... east of Brand Hwy after leaving OVT and maybe 1km of bitumen. On to the forest for some single track where Jacko meets another rider head on (the other guy is on the ground and Jacko is still upright when I get there) some contact but no serious damage and keep on trucking. I reckon Jacko had kicked the other guy off his bike cause there was a black toe or two when the boots came off.

We fuel up at 150km just in case and head for home. Jacko throws me up front for a bit to see if I can find my way back. The fresh tracks in the dirt make it easy but good practice for next time and chance to stretch the throttle cable a bit.

Cheers for sharing the path Jacko ... will sort some rides that way again.

No photos so some boring stats from the gps uploaded instead.
